TUDOR REVIVAL

A hallmark of the architectural history of Millburn, New Jersey, are the charming gingerbread-style Tudor homes that decorate the winding avenues. Characteristically, these early turn of the century homes make up in detail what they lack in natural light and storage... which is precisely what we aimed to solve for in design by overhauling much of the first floor and adding an office addition over the garage, which the builders blended seamlessly with the original facade.  We turned the powder room into a full bath, expanded and completely reoriented the kitchen footprint with a windowed glass patio door to brighten the space, and created a gracious pass-through mudroom and laundry room to bring function to a busy family of five.
